Important of an Employee Development Plan
HR has to play a major role on employee development. An effective development plan will be a useful tool to attracting new employees during recruitment stage & also, it’s indicates that employer care about their employees & want them to develop.
Development is an unfolding process that enables people
to progress from a present state of understanding and capability to a future
state in which higher-level skills, knowledge and competencies are required

interested job seekers that a company is invested in their long-term success
and advancement in the organization

Challengers
Although
a better development plan will positively impact to the company image, there will
be a negative impact as well. Since each & every employees are care about
their career development, they are leaving the organization after getting
developed. While invest on employee development, organization need to think on
investing on employee’s retention as well. Cost implication will be a challenge
to the organization.
How to face challengers
Implementing
long term capacity-building program rather than short term program will help organization
to retain the employee. Also focus more on effective learning rather than
training will reduce the cost & will retain employees longer than usual. Empowerment
also will help to retain employees rather than supervising them.
Conclusion
Having
an effective employee development plan will be utmost important to the
organization to attract & retain talented pool. Also, this will help to
reduce unnecessary recruitment cost & training cost.
